Feels like New Years Day today we are so tired. Our perfect port parking turned into a nightmare. The deserted cafe/hostel behind us seemed to come alive with noise at about 11pm, then about four lads turned up on motorbikes. They talked really loudly for ages, played some rubbish music, then decided at about 2:30 to pull some wheelies and rev their engines like mad for a laugh (to wake all the motorhome people up!).When the first one left, it sounded like that crazy nutter that screams round Arnold and Mapperley late at night. God knows how they’re still alive. The street sweeper came at 5, then someone started sanding their boat at 6:30am by which time I was deranged! Still, a free night I suppose – can’t complain, but I just did!!🤣🤣🤣 Up early then, and walked over the bridge into Ortigia – the tiny island attached to Siracusa. Beautiful honey coloured buildings and lots of flowers everywhere. We had a coffee and watched guests turning up to a wedding which was taking place outdoors in the ruins of a church. They all looked amazing. Went in the cathedral, then to see the fountain of Diana. Decided not to spend another night at the port, so we drove south to a camper stop which didn’t exist anymore. An old man came out and tried to get us to park in his garden, which was very kind but he had a dog that looked like trouble, so we made an excuse and moved on. After driving down the narrowest road ever and missing a shaving on both sides, we are now at a lovely shaded campsite next to the sea. Rufus is very happy ‘cos it’s getting hot!
