49011242-6894-4EEF-8787-490E8A03FDF3Lucky we didn’t get a parking ticket this morning – overslept again! We have an app on the phone which allows us to put more money on without going to the ticket machine …useful, if you’re not up and dressed! 😂
Got the bus into the city centre as it would’ve been quite a walk in and Oslo is quite spread out anyway so we knew we’d get some miles in.

First on the list was Vigeland Park. Have to say, it was a bit overwhelming…212 granite and bronze sculptures by Gustav Vigeland in the middle of a green park. Most of them supposedly depicted the struggle of life – you could certainly see that in the 20 metre high obelisk…bodies clambering all over each other to get to the top! Their expressions were really well done, but there were so many of them – he must’ve been a very busy bloke. The sculptures were outnumbered though, by the Chinese tourists with selfie sticks!

Walked on to Damstredet – the old bit, but it was just one street really and not up to much.1D226F79-ED6D-41B9-A0D4-DB68A59A473E
Think we came through the main part of town then. It was really busy, a bit like Clumber Street in places. Quite a few market stalls selling ‘cheap’ jumpers at £220 😂
Eventually, we got to Oslo’s showpiece – the opera house. What an amazing place – you could walk right up the sloping roof or down into the sea! Inside is even better, a sort of circular ribbed oak construction, all curves and waves.

By this time we were starving, no time to make egg sandwiches if you get up late. Had to break the bank and have lunch out. We made our way to Aker Brygge, a giant glass shopping centre/office complex. Had some kind of Thai food for late lunch, but we could’ve eaten it twice really! When we came out, we saw what we think was a Cormorant, just standing flapping it’s wings on the quayside. Guy took a photo and it really doesn’t look real. It was only afterwards we realised the poor thing only had one leg so don’t know what will become of it. 😢011321FB-5A3A-42D8-BFAB-C9D5D91A0264
There was another sculpture park further along but it but it started to rain so we turned around.
We decided to get the boat back to where we are parked at Bygdøy. I can’t think why they wouldn’t accept our bus ticket as payment. 😂😂😂 Another twenty minutes walk and we were back at base having walked ten miles…should’ve got sponsorship for that! What’s for dinner?
