The Kon-Tiki Museum houses guess what? The Kon-Tiki – a raft made of balsa wood which Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl sailed, against all odds, from Peru to Polynesia in 1947. The best bit about the story was the fact that he could barely swim and had no sailing skills whatsoever! 😂 There was also a reed boat on display which he used to cross the Atlantic. They were both pretty amazing exhibits.E43E026A-4345-4E77-BAAE-2499B5ADFC22

The Fram, in a different museum, was the ship Amundsen used for the first successful expedition to the South Pole in 1911. It was huge and you could walk around and inside it! It amazed me that they took a piano with them! There was also a room with an airlock on it where you could go in and experience Arctic temperatures – bit like a day in Å!!🥶12C807CA-3F41-43AC-90E7-EDAEB9A85291
Both museums were really dimly lit – we assume it’s something to do with preserving the stuff in them, but made photography difficult.

Walked back through the very up market residential area, past Oslo’s beach, a Henry Moore sculpture, and some lovely green parkland ….and, we’ve had sunshine! 🌞😎
