It turned out to be quite noisy last night as the tiny beach road behind us turned into the A1 after 11pm. A few comings and goings of fishermen and the strong smell of smoke was enough to keep us half awake. There was a wildfire up in the hills behind us and we’d seen planes collecting water in the afternoon. I was checking Googlemaps at 1am to see how close it was. The in-house fire expert said that the smell was soot or damp smoke and nothing to worry about.
Had a swim this morning before it got hot and more surprisingly, before breakfast! 🤣
Decided to move on then, further east to the first beach we stayed at in mainland Greece. It’s miles from anywhere but has two small, but thriving beach bars plus very white sand and clean sea.
Started off on the coastal road which was lovely until it turned into dirt track 🙄..ended up on the motorway again for a short section.
We were worried about there being no shade here, but fortunately, there’s a bit of breeze so we had another swim and braved the scorching sun for a couple of hours.
Once again, our new ‘must have’ UK sticker has been mistaken for the Ukraine – not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, but we still don’t understand why it had to be changed from GB!?
