The building site next to us started up quite early this morning, but we couldn’t drag ourselves out of bed despite the noise – think ‘sports day’ has taken its toll on us 😬
We did manage a proper look around the old medieval town late morning. It’s a lovely whitewashed place against the blue sea, but maybe a little overstuffed with fridge magnets. 🤣

Drove inland and up to Morella afterwards. Guy can actually remember this place! In the Rough Guide, it says it’s one of the coldest places in the region – certainly, last time we came, it was absolutely freezing. Weirdly though, today, it was much warmer than the coast! About 20°!

There’s good motorhome parking directly opposite the old fortress town, so we parked up and put our boots on with the aim of walking to the top of the castle. It’s a very steep walk and although all the perimeter walls remain intact, much of the castle is a crumbling ruin. As always, great views from the top, over the bullring and the old aquaduct.

The church was open when we got back down into the town, so we went in to have another look at the spectacular spiral staircase.
Couldn’t find much sign of life in the town, so we walked back to the van and sat outside in the last of the sunshine.
