It seems that we’ve been in the middle of Storm Alex; incredible amount of rain overnight again coupled with strong winds.

We didn’t wake up till 9:15 – don’t know what happened there! Drove back down to the coast to find that the seafront was quite battered. Rocks everywhere, thrown out of the sea, huge waves, still windy, but brilliant sunshine. Most of the beach bars and cafe owners were busy clearing up the mess – felt quite sorry for them.

Couldn’t find anywhere to park until we reached Savona – even then we drove round for ages until we found a car park without a height barrier.

Hadn’t planned to stop here but it looked quite interesting. There’s a small harbour that’s sort of in the middle of town then on the outside of it, a huge cruise ship was moored – The Costa Smeralda. No sign of any cruise folks about though. Another nice ‘old town’ in the centre.

Had to do a Lidl stop next, which was a bit difficult. Couldn’t park in the car park- it is Saturday, so an oversight on our part! Managed to get on the roadside just outside, but upon our return with a trolley load, we found there was an invisible barrier that locked the trolley wheels the minute we tried to get it out of the car park! Guy has now wrenched his back again trying to manoeuvre said trolley. Good thing is though, he’s now emptied his head of every bad word in his vocabulary! 😬 I don’t know who put all that wine in the trolley anyway.

Further down the coast, we’ve had to pay 🙄to park safely for the night, but we can hear the roar of the sea which is brilliant.
