Not “a dry Blackthorn cider day”! Drove into the Sintra national park hoping to see the Pena Palace. Roads like narrow loops of spaghetti running up and down hills. Couldn’t find suitable parking and it rained and rained and rained. Parked by a big main road in the end in a car park with specific motorhome places. Started walking up to the castle but both soaked to the skin after twenty minutes so got in a tuk tuk thing to take us up to the top. The driver was completely nuts and his road skills were terrifying. Had to go inside the castle as there was so much rain ..only wanted to see the outside really, but that was completely shrouded in mist.

Back at the van – DISASTER ..the bedroom window was smashed in. Thieving toe-rags have taken the iPad, a bag of coins and worst of all 3 bottles of wine! Insurance company were useless again, Police disinterested. The Fire brigade have come up trumps though, and let us park against a high wall behind their barrier. The worst thing is, we can see exactly where the iPad is – a block of flats in Lisbon! I’d really like to punch someone 😡😡😡
How annoying. Damage to the van as well. Have you managed to get it hold of your insurance company yet? I’m having a binge catch up on your blogs, sat by a pool in La Palma, the Canaries. Decided had to escape to the Sun. We’re thinking of heading to Spain in the camper in September though!
Mmm…flipping new van as well 🙄! Insurance company are useless – put us through to Autoglass who obvs don’t do Perspex windows for motorhomes. Knaus dealers can order one on Monday but could be a week or a month! Good job they didn’t smash all the windows!
