Up quite early (for us!), with brains engaged on the ‘how to get out around the tree’ conundrum. It wasn’t too bad; just a little bit of shunting back and forth. Seemed that everyone had picked the same day to depart with a queue forming at the drain and water place. Stopped at Lidl in Portimão – someone seems to have eaten all the food again!

Drove on then past Silves to this tiny campsite in the middle of nowhere where Fozzy and Jules reside. Fozzy was a fireman Guy worked with many years ago and, in Guys words, ‘he taught me everything I needed to know about being a fireman and then after tea break we played volleyball’ – I think he liked being at Central!

The little track took us under a bridge to the entrance where a strange German chap welcomed us in by standing and staring at us. Undeterred, we parked up and got our clutter out whilst waiting for our friends to come home ( they’d been delayed at the airport).

We’ve had a fab afternoon in the sun with a couple of bottles of wine, putting the world to rights and learning a few new Portuguese words which will have evaporated from our brains by morning.

Walked up a very steep staircase late afternoon to have coffee and brandy at their caravan. Still not sure how we’ve got back down to ours as it’s so dark – thank God we borrowed a torch! It’s been really nice to have some company – tomorrow we’ll be back to ‘What’s for dinner?’
