Shock horror – the sun has finally graced Wales with its presence! What a difference it’s made too.

After filling up with water at the friendly Morrisons petrol station, we set off for Anglesey. The old Menai Bridge was a bit of a squeeze 😬 …I think there was less than an inch to spare on each side of the van. Very glad I wasn’t driving!

First impression of the island was very flat and very green, but the road south afforded us great views of the Menai Straits and maybe just a glimpse of Snowdon in the cloud.

Eventually, we came to the barrier for the car park for Newborough Forest. Very high tech number plate recognition and it said there were spaces. What a find!

The sun came out as we walked through the woods to the beautiful beach …I think it’s called Traeth Llanddwyn but who knows? It’s all double Welsh to me 😉The place was stunning – reminded us of the Scilly Isles with its heather and rocks of all different colours. There were several coves around the headland which had an old light house on the end. A few people in the sea and it was actually warm!

We left about 4:30 as obvs ‘no sleeping in the car park’ and drove across the island towards Holyhead, ending up at South Stack on Holy Island. There’s another lighthouse here which you reach via a million steps. It’s not open at the moment but we did the steps anyway.

Good sunset – every man and his dog came up to watch, which is always nice to see. Hoping for same weather tomorrow ( I had a black top on underneath my sweatshirt so I’ve absorbed and stored some heat on economy 7 just in case!)
