It absolutely poured down in the night. At least we had closed the roof vents this time, but our outside mat was soaked. For some reason Guy refuses to believe a weather forecast if it says rain -it’s just pessimistic! 🤣 Fortunately we didn’t have to leave the campsite until midday, so it had a bit of time out on the line before we left.

After finding out that our next destination of a beach with some volcanic rocks was actually on an island just off Crete (Thanks Googlemaps! 😂), we carried on further up the coast to Syvota.

Parked on the edge of town as we daren’t go any further down the narrow streets, then set off to find Bella Vraka beach.

Walked up and over a headland then down to a narrow strip of sand facing some tiny islands. It looked like a piece of paradise with crystal clear calm waters against all the lush greenery.

You could walk across to Bella Vraka opposite, although the water did come up to waist height and most people seemed to be struggling, carrying all their stuff with them.

Not wanting to risk taking the camera, we swam across instead, keeping our bag in view all the time. Paddle boards were for hire on the other side and made for good entertainment watching people trying to stand up, in fact, one almost crashed into Guy before the man fell off in spectacular style. 😂

The peace was ruined when a boat arrived and unloaded about thirty loud people – some folks just need their volume button turning down.

When flying ants launched an attack aswell , we gave up and walked back to the van.

Now in a quiet car park about ten minutes up the road, contemplating the fact that we’ve run out of Greece’s coastline and we need to head inland tomorrow. 🙁
