Probably one of the noisiest nights ever in the car park. All the usual city noises, plus the metro train running at the back of us, many motorbike races around the streets and to cap it all, what sounded like a thrash metal band screeching out from some local music venue. Not bad for €15 😂🙄
Up at seven, in order to try and beat the tour buses to the Acropolis. The metro was busy again but probably a lot of people on their way to work.
It was already getting hot by the time we started walking uphill inside the Acropolis complex. Loads of people about. but by an hour later, the place was swarming with tour guides and their followers.

The views from the top are spectacular, but there was a concerning acid yellow pollution haze over much of the city.
The Parthenon stands proud at the top – an iconic landmark and great to see it up close. Sadly, it was partly covered in scaffolding as it has been for years apparently. Think they are gradually cleaning and restoring it, but its a long job. Lots of other stuff to see up there but all was becoming a blur in the heat for me. Guy was enthralled, changing lenses and fighting for position with the selfie sticks.
After a coffee and a gallon of water we made out way over to the parliament building to see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Very entertaining! Looked a bit like fancy dress and the slow-motion goose stepping in pom-pom adorned shoes was amazing.

After lunch, we were at a bit of a loss as we’d seen the stuff we wanted to see. There were plenty of other sites with remains of Ancient Greece but they all looked like human boiling factories in the hot sun. Meandered back through the Thissio region and decided to metro back to the parking and move on.
Followed the coast along towards Corinth and managed to park alongside a white pebble beach. Guy was in the water almost before he turned the engine off!
