For some strange reason we were up quite early this morning. We didn’t think Carrefour opened until ten so when I saw a chap come back with a trolley I asked if it was open. I swear he replied in German but turns out he was Scottish…I only realised this when he broke into a brexit rant.😂 I’m reliably informed he could be from Dundee or Aberdeen.
Stocked up on essentials like wine and coffee then set off for Antwerp.
Whilst researching parking along the way I discovered that the city centre is a low carbon zone and we had to apply for a permit online. After spending thirty minutes of my life (that I won’t get back) filling in the form, it then told me they’d let me know within ten days. We could have chanced it, but if any of the documents were wrong they’d fine us €150!
Starving hungry we ended up parking on the outskirts and had a walk round a lovely park. It even had some photogenic deer – you can keep your cityscapes Antwerp! On the way back we were a bit unnerved to see a policeman cautiously open a car door to check out an abandoned rucksack …must’ve been after a sandwich otherwise I’d like to think he’d get a robot in to do that job.
Drove on then to Eindhoven. Had a long walk in (6miles today!), but it was warm and sunny. Some good bits of architecture to keep our resident photographer amused. We got back to the motorhome around 6pm, but the parking didn’t look great,so we’ve driven a short distance out to a little place billed as a Van Gogh village – we’ll check it out tomorrow.
