Well, it’s a weird thing to say, I know, but holiday Türkiye is so much cleaner than the real Türkiye 🇹🇷
Last night was sooo noisy and so hot – it just seemed to get louder and hotter! We were parked next to the sea at the end of a run of cafes and bars, so normally to be expected, but we had been told it got quieter later.
Both a bit bedraggled this morning, so we went for a swim to waken us up, then set off in search of water and somewhere a little more peaceful to park.
Driving further on to the north side of the Bodrum Peninsula, we were struck by the difference in the landscape and its cleanliness. Huge white hotel complexes and apartments covered in Bougainvillaea, landscaped gardens and a rocky coastline.
We tried two different water taps but both were turned off – suppose there’s not much call for the village water around here! There was a mosque though and ‘Park4Night’ said it was ok to get water there.
We thought we’d better ask first as it seemed a bit odd, but the local man filling his container said “Yes, of course – have you got a hosepipe?”People are so kind and helpful here.

The flow of water from the feet washing area was not much faster than a steady drip, so Guy took a container down to help it along. The man’s wife then offered him her very old plastic container to use as well 😬
Finally ended up on a nice little beach full of families, cats and dogs. All the animals have just sat and watched us eat chilli and the cats are doing their level best to get inside the van!

Hoping it may be a bit quieter tonight as it’s been mostly local people on the beach who have now gone home, apart from a couple of families in tents.
