After such a successful trip to El Rocío yesterday, we thought we’d have a look around the park on the other side of the main road using the access points at El Acebron and El Acebuche.
Driving into both areas, we were met with road signs warning you to look out for the Iberian Lynx. We were scanning the woods left, right and centre but saw nothing.

We walked along all the available trails and boardwalks around lagoons that didn’t exist – not sure if that’s due to lack of rainfall this year, but it looks like there hasn’t been any water there for a very long time.
There are purpose built bird hides but no birds either, other than a few tiny ones.

We followed a trail to a lynx observatory only to find a locked gate with a sign saying you must be booked on an official tour. We asked a guide about it, who was coming back with a group and he said we’d definitely see the lynx if we came tomorrow, but it seemed that he was talking about them as if they were captive. Not for us.
Despondent, we drove back to El Rocío, but as it had turned cool and was starting to rain, there wasn’t much happening there either.

Parked up now, fairly close to Seville in a free motorhome aire. Looks like we may be able to get a bus in tomorrow so that’s a good result!
