The Fairy Glen

Fairy pools, fairy glens …Scotland has all things fairy. Long-ish drive this morning in the fog, which was quite thick at times. The roads were nearly all single track with a few potholes. The good thing is, there are loads of passing places, so as long as people remain patient it all works fairly well. There’s always one though, that decides to overtake just as we’ve pulled in to let someone approach.

After driving for over an hour, we hadn’t passed a single shop, garage or person – there really is nothing here other than holiday lets it seems.

Got a good parking spot just past the Fairy Glen. What a place! It’s like Tellytubby land 😂 A geological wonder formed by an ancient landslide. It’s full of conical shaped hills with paths swirling around them.

Someone has made a circle of stones in the centre which the locals apparently remove regularly as it’s not a natural feature.

Having only walked a couple of miles, I didn’t feel we’d done enough with the day, so we set off to walk to Uig. Nothing there really, but we did find the ‘Falls of Rha’ set back off the main road. Lovely waterfall with a pool at the bottom. One brave swimmer, who said the water temperature wasn’t bad at all. 🤥

Long walk back, achey legs and buzzing feet.
