The one that really likes going up steep things, found out that we’d missed this ‘wonderful’ wooden staircase that goes up into the clouds, so, this morning, we set off back through the extra long tunnel to find it.
I could see from the road that it was super steep, but consoled myself with the fact that it had a sort of handrail (chain) each side.
Off we went across the rickety bridge – that was fine…then the path became a sloping crumbly bit of ledge on the hillside. I wasn’t happy at all ☹️! Somehow, we made it to the foot of the steps and then I looked up. Not a chance for me. The photos don’t illustrate the steepness at all – it was more of a ladder than a set of 1129 stairs.
I was dutifully escorted back to the van to recover my composure. The ex fireman put his ladder skills to use and scampered up. Even he came back a bit wobbly.
After lunch, we thought we’d go through yet another tunnel to see a dam. Scariest tunnel to date, and super steep up hill – think it had just been made for the dam’s construction workers. 
We were so pleased we did it though, as we came out opposite the other side of the glacier – it does cover 370 square kilometres so shouldn’t be surprised really. Walked up on to the top of the dam … really amazing and unexpected view. Guy then decided he needed the other camera lens, so we came back down to get it, then up again! Should be really fit, but don’t feel it.
Back through the long tunnel to our favourite parking space, the temperature changed from 11 degrees to 20 as we came out the other end. Time for a nice glass of ….water. ☹️

Feels like a flipping obstacle course too some days – don’t know what happened to sitting outside a bar with a glass of wine and an olive or two! 😂
And it sounds like you’ve run out of wine too. That’s just not on
Probably a good thing as we feel like we deserve some kind of medal after two whole days without! 😬
