Very quiet night in the woods with just the sound of the owl hooting and distant motorbikes doing circuits (must be a thing in France!). We’ve never really had a problem getting through Paris on the Périphérique, but for some daft reason today we thought we’d do an alternative route up through Beauvais and Amiens instead of the usual Arras route. Phone nav was trying to skirt us round the west of Paris, but the road we were supposed to be on had a height limit and we were too tall. Loads of messing about and near misses with crazy French drivers…Monsieur Bramley made liberal use of the horn. Our only way out was to get back on the Périphérique. This route was meant to be four minutes longer than the usual one – it’s felt more like four hours. After a brief lunch stop, we finally arrived at Cité Europe in Calais around 5:30. Rufus is a bit over-tired and panting lots as he doesn’t sleep whilst we are moving – Guy’s a bit the same! Loads of space here but might have to move to the other end of the car park soon as some proper looking travellers have turned up!!🤣
