99 Miles in 5 hours 36 minutes….what a long drive! 😴 We’re cutting across country now towards Oslo, as this route, although little used, is meant to be a lot more interesting than the south coast.
A very murky start to the day and we had the heating on full blast this morning as it was ‘proper’ cold. Last night, just as it got dark, a car pulled in. Out jumped two girls who promptly threw up a tent and slept in it. With a temperature of about 8 degrees and wind chill of -40 😉…no wonder they were up and gone at 7am!
Traversing the mountain plateau in the mist this morning was a bit like being on another planet. Such a weird landscape- nothing but rocks, lichen and lakes for miles and miles. It was quite reassuring to see little stone cairns everywhere as at least you know that people do come here!
We were back down in a valley at lunchtime but couldn’t really find anywhere to walk, so we carried on. Then we were going to stop at Dalen but they wanted £25 just to stay in a car park! Back on the road again and found a picnic area just outside Rauland. Apparently, the tourist office here will give information on where to find the local moose. I don’t think I’ll be able to drag Guy out of Norway until he’s managed to get a photograph!

We did see a White Tailed Eagle yesterday…it was an enormous thing, gliding around the cliff tops – could’ve done with some binoculars.
Been out for a long walk, finally. Up a track through the woods in stealth mode just in case there were any moose loose (about the hoose). 😂
