Today was Guy’s big day – when he finally got to see the Paris-Roubaix bike race. We woke up to torrential rain. Felt sorry for the cyclists as it would make the cobbles very slippery. The bread van came round and we decided to do without as none of us fancied getting soaked! As it turned out it was almost completely dry by afternoon, the sun came out and it became another hot afternoon. At 11:30 Guy walked down to see how busy it was only to find some of the best spots were already taken and it was filling up fast. I decided to stay with Rufus (it was far too busy for dogs) whilst Guy went to get a good viewing point. He found the two cycling mates we missed yesterday so had someone to study form with. I walked down at just the right time, as there was much excitement and a blur of dusty cyclists came through at warp speed. Then, it was how to get out! Drunken people everywhere, oompah band, bars, tables, chairs, food stalls…it was crazy! An hour later, things had calmed down and we decided to drive to Namur as we’re heading for Strasbourg in the next couple of days. Nice town, had a walk by the river and now parked at the sports centre for the night.
Ps Guy says it was brill😁👍👏🎉😇
