Driven quite a long way today as we thought we’d have a few days at the wonderful Camping Hellas in Kato Gatzea. Considering it’s only a little further south, the temperature rocketed back into the 30’s as it reached mid afternoon.
We decided to use the toll roads as it would have been a seven hour drive otherwise. Even though we’ve done this route before, I wasn’t quite expecting that number of toll booths – it’s cost a fortune!
We stopped for lunch shortly after passing Thessaloniki then carried on south past Mount Olympus (of which I took some poor photos), then down to the white city of Volos.

Quick Lidl stop for the stuff we forgot the other day, then followed the coast road down to one of our favourite places.
A lovely welcome to the campsite – the owner remembered us from last year and the year before, even though we’ve only ever stayed for a few days.
This place is busy – this is where all the motorhomes are! We haven’t seen any for weeks really, yet this campsite is nearly full with mainly German vans.
Immediately went for a swim – the water is like a mill pond here and so clean. Can’t believe it’s warm enough to sit out at night again – we’ve even been joined by the campsite dog who is now asleep outside on our mat.
