Well, that was a wild night! Like being in a wind tunnel …I really thought we’d all be blown away by this morning. Guy’s sleep was aided by three glasses of vodka and apple juice ‘forced’ upon him by the Polish contingent next door. When he tried to leave, he was told that they have a saying in Poland -“he left the party like an English man” meaning he sloped off without saying goodnight! Had to have another drink to make amends! 😂
There was much anticipation for this mornings race. People were pacing up and down the road from about 8:30am. Stewards, many police, team cars etc but nothing really happening.
It was nearly one o clock when they finally came up the hill. Whilst I can appreciate the effort put in, it all felt like a bit of an anticlimax we’d waited so long. One huge tight bunch at first, then it gradually started to split up as they got towards the final lap.
The Dutch girl that won was miles out in front when we saw them go round the last time. Speaking of Dutch people, our very strange neighbour on the other side appears to be wearing clogs! Proper wooden things…I didn’t realise people still did that. Thought you could only buy them singly anyway, with a small bottle of liqueur in, like ‘off of the 70’s’ 🤣
We walked down into the town of Riolo Terme for a bit of exercise, forgetting that it would be uphill all the way back. Cooked some fish for dinner which was a bad idea as there are no bins around – not sure where to put the head, tail and bones!!!
