Had an afternoon and evening out yesterday courtesy of friends Colin and Alicia, who very kindly picked us up from our parking in Torrevieja and took us back to their ‘urb’ for a lovely lunch with Aperols and a walk.
Later on we attempted to get to the pink lake (Lago Rosa) but was looking like a potential mud slide for me in the new sandals 🤣

Back to the sea front in the evening for a stroll along the prom, more Aperol and then we all succumbed to some tapas of the deep fried variety. 😬I was wide awake at 3am wishing I’d had a smol salad 🤣
So many people about to say it’s October. A busy place made even busier by the police cruising past at regular intervals causing all the ‘genuine’ designer handbag sellers to gather up their wares and scarper.

This morning, after narrowly avoiding the site owner who ‘also does massages’ and could see I had a problem with my hip 🙄😬, we headed south towards Cartagena. Guy thought he’d found a small cove near a little port – it turned out to be a very industrial port and things went from bad to worse when we somehow managed to end up driving around a massive refinery!

Trying to get out quickly due to the chemical smell, we followed a route through a couple of tunnels that Google maps had kindly provided. We kept seeing height and width signs but somehow failed to continue reading the rest of the signs which said ‘Restricted road, port and refinery traffic only. Up to €1000 fine for violations’. Let’s hope we don’t come home to one of ‘those’ letters or it could be a very frugal Christmas.
We did eventually find a lovely little cove beach called Cala Cortina and we had a very nice swim, but the fidgety one had soon had enough of the two very loud Russian men sitting next to us so we moved on.

Straight through the middle of Cartagena, then down to La Azohia. We passed about fifty motorhomes all parked up on one bit of wasteland so carried on further around the bay and parked near one other van. This is a lovely place with beautiful views especially at sunset when the port of Mazarrón lights up opposite.
We recognise the place and think we’ve been here before, but looking back on the blog I can’t see any trace of it. Must have dreamt it.
Our Spanish neighbour has told us there is a lot of rain coming tomorrow so we might have to make a wet weather plan!
