Still warm and sunny this morning so we went for a trek up the nearest mountainside to the Torre de Santa Elena and then up higher until the path ran out. Great views over the bay but we were quite hot and bothered once we got up there.

On the way down I found some rosemary and thyme, so stuffed some in my pockets for tonight’s chicken.

As we passed by the tower, Guy stopped dead on the track and said “Reverse …quickly!”
There was a snake on the path and not a tiny one either. We watched for a while and couldn’t decide if he was dead or alive! I decided to use my walking pole as potential defence as I skirted around him – he never flinched but his eyes 👀 were open.

When we got back to sea level there were a few people in the little beach bar opposite and some music on, so treated ourselves to a Friday afternoon drink.
Then we realised it was only Thursday 🤣

There have been various weather alerts and it looks like the main body of the storm will hit this area tomorrow now, but by 3pm the skies were blacker than black and we had a foretaste of what’s to come.
A short burst of torrential rain, lots of thunder and some dramatic fork lightening.
I was sat with my back to the open window when it felt like there was an explosion outside …I shot across the van and then quickly contemplated getting under the table, but within minutes it had moved on.
Think we’ll have to head south first thing in the morning or we’ll be caught up in it for the whole day.
