It was quite weird to be driving off this morning after three lazy days on a campsite.
We followed the coast north and called first at Tribunj, a tiny picturesque place as we remembered it, with an old bridge. Somehow, today it didn’t look quite the same. With nearly all the restaurants closed and the streets and harbour deserted, it definitely lacked atmosphere. We did manage to purchase the biggest loaf of bread in the world though, using Euros as we’ve run out of Kuna! Had lunch in the empty carpark overlooking the marina – nearly all the carparks are free now the holiday season has ended so that’s a bit of a bonus.

On to Zadar, where we managed to park along the waterfront next to the big tour boats.
Walking round the outside edge of the town, we quickly reached the Sea Organ and it’s partner installation, Greeting to the Sun.
The wave powered Sea Organ is nothing to look at, just a set of stone steps leading to the sea, but the sound is amazing. Even better today as the sea was a little choppy. People just sit around on the steps in the sunshine enjoying its eerie tunes.
We’ve never really seen the other installation in action as it’s solar powered causing different light sequences in the evening by which time, we’ve usually moved on.
The town has some lovely streets, but again, quite deserted in places. It’s a real mish-mash of styles, with the odd Corinthian column thrown in for good measure.

We had a look in the Cathedral, once Guy had worked out that he was trying to get in the ‘out’ door, then round a park and back to the van.
There was nothing to say we couldn’t stay overnight, but after much umming and ahhring we moved on and parked a little further north by a tiny harbour at Zaton. I think we’ve done the right thing.
