Helped out a fellow Motorhomie this morning who had lost his ticket with the get out code on it. We suggested he tailgate us through the barrier once it had lifted for us. Have to say my heart was in my mouth as he drove through – had visions of the back end of his van being chopped in half! 😂
Drove through some lovely autumn scenery first thing, through the Perigord-Limousin National Park.
Then after the Limoges ring road we used a free section of motorway to get a bit further north.
Looking for somewhere interesting to stop for the rest of the day, we decided to head for Ambois on the Loire river. With a château and an old town it seemed like a good plan.
At this point, Google Maps decided to play one of its favourite tricks and not only avoid tolls, but avoid every decent road within a hundred mile radius! 🙄 We were ripping our hair out by the time we got here.
We’re actually parked on an island now in the middle of the Loire, almost opposite the château although we can’t see it from the van.
We’ve had a walk into the town – it’s lovely, but where did all these people come from? Haven’t seen a soul all afternoon – that’s because they’re all here in Amboise! They should all be tucked up soon though – 9pm curfew!
