Voïdhokiliá

A bit of trouble finding Voïdhokiliá beach this morning even though we’ve been before. I’d somehow put the wrong parking in to start with, then we missed a turn, then we had to detour to avoid a narrow road. The driver was exhausted by the time we pulled up on the dusty beach track.

We were just hoping that the sun would come out and light up the turquoise sea, but it wasn’t to be today. It’s still the most spectacular place though, such a perfect crescent of white sand. After paddling all the way round, we decided to try and walk over the headland to what looked like another hidden beach. I couldn’t get down the rocks to it, but Guy was back in a flash once he realised it was full of male couples 😬

Further down the road we passed a very upmarket looking waterfront area called Gialova, so we stopped for a look around. We couldn’t work out who all the bars and cafes were catering to, as there is nothing around other than a campsite. When I looked on the map, there are three golf courses around and a big hotel/apartment complex about a mile down the road.

Pylos

We decided to drive back to Pylos for the rest of the day as there’s loads of flat parking at the port. We were really put off this place last year, when the market was on – we had our wiper blade ripped out by an undesirable selling, guess what? Wiper blades! It’s a lovely little town though, with a big square full of cafes and shaded by plane trees.

We had a walk, but the weather turned positively miserable, so we came back to the van to play cards and drink more wine. 🍷
