Guy was raring to go this morning, rucksack packed, sandwiches made, boots on. As the campsite only takes cash we decided to walk to Lauterbrunnen first to get some money from the cash machine. It was only about a mile and a half along the flat valley bottom but was made extra entertaining by the base jumpers flying over our heads. One lad had a wing suit on and came over us like a rocket.

Just before the entrance to the town, we walked up to the Staubbach Falls. More steep ramps and steps than we envisaged but worth it as you can get right behind the curtain of water coming down.

Back in the town, one of us realised we’d left the Caxton currency card back in the van 🙄 This meant using Guy’s and he couldn’t remember his PIN number….what a pair! Eventually, we managed to get a reminder online so saved ourselves the walk back, fortunately.

Thought we’d have a walk up to the Wengen ski resort – about an hour and a half, it said. Wow, was it steep uphill – 176 floors! Got a new walking pole thing from Decathlon – think Guy was thrilled on the way back down, as I didn’t do my usual Bambi impression – he had enough to carry anyway, with all his tech 😂

It seemed a long trek back to the campsite once we reached the valley floor. Just under ten miles today, so we’re feeling quite pleased with ourselves. Happy hour now 🍷 – cheers!
