Drove out of one valley and into the next this morning, landing at Grindelwald, looking up at the north face of the Eiger. All the very expensive campsites are full to bursting, and as it rained heavily in the night, some just couldn’t take motorhomes because the ground was too boggy. One chap said they’d had to tow three out this morning.

So, we are parked in a car park hoping that the police won’t raise any objections. There’s a Swiss couple next to us and they say it will be ok.

For an easier day on the legs we decided to mortgage our bungalow so that we could get the cable car up to First. We think it was well worth the money as it was 25 minutes each way. You could do all sorts of exciting stuff at the top, scooters, gliders, looking for marmots. We opted for the sky walk. It wasn’t very long, but the views were amazing. Couldn’t do the final bit though, as it was a dead end and packed with people.

Started walking up some more mountain stuff – legs already dead from yesterday. There were some very friendly goats around that loved having the tops of their heads scratched.

There was a bit of a queue for the cable cars back down and we had to try and stop anyone else getting in at the other two stations. We took to telling them we didn’t have masks …seemed to do the trick. The whole thing was an amazing automated contraption ..it even had a robot arm that loaded spare scooters on the sides of empty carriages.

Back down in Grindelwald it was hot! We walked past a mini golf place and Guy reminded me that yesterday I had mistaken a graveyard for a mini golf course! It was very decorative with little windmills and stuff!

Because we’ve eaten a big bag of mixed nuts, we just had a salad for dinner, then followed it up with cheese, crackers and chocolate – mountain air and all that!
