As the sun started to rise over Siran we knew we had to make sure Rufus made his 2.30pm appointment with the vet in Olonzac. So lots to do before that starting with a strong black coffee with the Scrofties then we were off to experience ‘la curiosité’ which is up in the mountains behind Siran.
Very strange and difficult to explain but the phenomenon of ‘la curiosité’ left us aghast at the optical illusion before us. How do you look to be driving up hill and actually be going downhill?? Who knows, not us for sure!!
Next up a spot of lunch and we’re off to Olonzac to get worming tablets for Rufus. Mission accomplished but 51 euros out of pocket and back for a kip for Rufus.
While Rufus rested his little head we headed out for a walk to La Livinière (the next village to Siran) through the fields of vines. Lots of flora & fauna along the way and views of both villages from afar.
Disappointed that the bar in La Liv wasn’t open for a beer we returned via a different route to enjoy a well earned Pelforth beer at Bar Minervois to off set our calorie loss from the walk. You’ll see from the pictures that Guy was very taken by a set of Very Big gates that happened to be up for sale and presented an opportunity to join the Siran clan. Amid creative thoughts of barn conversion, stud walls and it’s very own plane tree Guy had to sit down and be wafted with a wet towel to calm him down.
Dinner and vin rouge (for the chaps) rosé for the girls capped off another relaxed day in Siran.
