Found a campsite with space for us, and, more importantly, a washing machine and tumble dryer. It rained all last night and was really cold this morning when we stood outside the reception hoping to be invited in.

Got the first load of washing in and had soup for lunch to warm up. After putting the folding airer up outside with all the wet clothes on, we chanced our luck and walked into town.

Aberystwyth…well, I think it’s seen better days but once again, a bit of sunshine might have helped. It’s quite a big town, with a long promenade backed by four and five storey colourful hotels and houses. Sadly, a lot of them were run down or empty. Looked really good from a distance though.

There was a ruined castle and a beautiful old college building between the north and south beaches.

Had a walk to the end of the pier and then went in search of coffee.

We came across a little deli that looked quite nice but most of the seating was outside. We were about to walk away when suddenly they had a table free inside. We were ushered through to a back room, filled with bottles of Spanish wine, just one table and a bar. It somehow morphed from coffee shop to wine bar so quite by mistake, we ordered two glasses of Sherry and some pan con tomate…

“I really like Wales …it’s just like Spain” 😂🍷

Aberystwyth (Just like Spain 😬)
