Drove back up the Pelion today, stopping at Afyssos for lunch. This place was a nightmare for us last year as we tried to come through from the other direction. It was a Sunday and the place was absolutely rammed with people. Today was a very different story; Guy drove straight in and we parked next to the beach. We were going to stay here overnight, but the town was at its other extreme- almost empty and lacking atmosphere. Still, it’s a very attractive place though and famous for being the spot whereJason and the Argonauts set off in pursuit of the Golden Fleece.

It wasn’t really warm enough to sit around, and after a walk from one end of the village to the other, we decided to move on.

Drove all the way around the Pagasitic Gulf, through the busy city of Volos and down to a little port called Amaliapoli….it’s not any warmer! We are now kind of opposite where we were at lunchtime. Nice little place with plenty of stray dogs, who have all sat outside the van with their noses in the air like the Bisto kids, while we’ve been cooking a chicken crown. 😂
