Late start today as we were woken up at stupid o clock by a lorry warming up in the railway yard behind us. Grey skies and a bit more rain, so we headed down from the Pyrenees towards Sabiñánigo. Very cheap diesel to be had here at £1.23 per litre. South next, to the nearest Lidl – great food prices too, apart from, surprisingly, olive oil, which has gone through the roof. They use such a lot of it here and the industry is still recovering from last year’s drought. About £7 for the cheapest bottle!

Realising we’d missed the great rock formations of Los Mallos, we then turned back north for a 40 minute drive to see them again. We managed to park at the stunning village of Aguero, which has an amazing backdrop of pink hued sugarloaf mountains, above which, circle whole gangs of vultures.

We set off for a walk on a path up and around the back of the rocks. It felt like quite hard going although it wasn’t really very far. I think we’re a bit unfit after the Christmas indulgence and new boots didn’t help matters. Spectacular scenery and bird watching all the way though.
