Nice quiet night by the lake and then a long drive up to Amboise. Should have been about two hours but detours and slow roads meant we had to stop for lunch on the way. We pulled in to this tiny village (Nouans-les-Fontaines) where there was a free motorhome aire – it was immaculate! Cleaner and tidier than most campsites.
It’s been raining on and off all day and the whole area seems to be under a blanket of grey cloud. As we parked up in Amboise, the heavens opened again so we waited for a while before venturing into the town.
We were the only people in shorts and t shirts pretending it was summer – what utter madness!

As we arrived in front of the chateau, Guy decided that Amboise wasn’t the place he thought it was, and proceeded to describe a similar place in France with a chateau and a bridge. “You remember, we walked up that rock on the other side to get a good view of it”
After much discussion and wading back through the blog, it turned out to be Sigmaringen in Germany that he was thinking of! 🙄

To make matters worse, he has no recollection of being in Amboise – I think we were last here in 2020. Thank God we keep a record as sometimes we don’t know what day it is either!🤣
Anyway, the town just looked a bit drab today due to the weather so after a quick walk around we headed back to the van, luckily just before the really heavy rain started.
