Banyuls sur Mer

We were up quite early this morning..I think it was the noise from the road behind the car park.
Set off on the spectacular coast road through Llanca and Portbou, then into France at Cebère. Had a near miss on one of the bends, when a car coming the opposite way pulled out around some cyclists. Guy managed to dodge him, but then an idiot in a van followed. We were still holding our breath ten minutes later!

We stopped for lunch by the sea at Sainte-Marie-la-Mer (not to be confused with Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer in the Camargue which is where we’ll probably end up tomorrow!).
Walked a mile or so inland to the little town which is known for its painted murals. Apart from a few people at a cafe, the place was deserted. It’s definitely the end of the holiday season in this part of France.

Moving further north past the Étangs, we were looking for somewhere to park overnight, the only decent reviews seemed to be in the little town of Fleury.
After we parked up and walked around, we decided to move again as there was nothing to see and it was too hot to sit in the van with chicken legs cooking in the oven 🤣
Luckily, we’ve found a little spot just behind Narbonne Plage. It’s a bit cooler here with the sea breeze.

Back in to France 18/8/25
