Rain again this morning ☔️…at least we didn’t float away in the night. There was a bit of light entertainment when three lads came down in a car. Two of them got out for a fag, whilst the driver did engine revving etc. He then proceeded to reverse into the lake as far as he dare…thought Guy might have to go into water rescue mode! 😂
What’s the wet weather plan then? Two churches; the first one was tiny and in the town of Åre, Sweden’s most popular ski resort. Inside, it was straight out of a ‘decorative folk arts’ book. Not sure why the lines of pews had gates on the end though, maybe you’re locked in till the end of the service. The second one was a bit further along the road, a bit bigger but more plain inside, although there was a lovely metalwork tree in the doorway for putting candles on.
Carrying on the main road towards Norway, we spotted a sign for Sweden’s largest waterfall..thought we did that the other day? We went to have a look. It was brilliant – and, the sun came out giving us several rainbows. Checked the ends of them, but no gold sadly.

Moving on, we seemed to be having a game of ‘diesel gamble’. Every time we passed a fuel station, we thought the next one would be cheaper. Of course, it got progressively more expensive until we nearly ran out and ended up getting it at the border.
Back into Norway 🇳🇴 – instant scenery change. Still very dramatic, but it’s a bit different here. We can tell that we are further south and out of the Arctic. It’s greener, with meadows, crops, and even cows and sheep. Made our way to the coast at Stjørdal (just above Trondheim) and parked up by a fab beach. Some young Americans came down to swim and compete with each other for voice volume, but they provided us with a good photo opportunity…only iPhone though. Got the chairs out to watch the sunset and in true Bramley style nearly missed it ! 🙄😎
