Bad back and I went for a walk into the town this morning. We’d been told that to get to the beach there was a tunnel under the road. We started walking under it and ended up nearly crawling out the other side. I think the sand had blown in and filled it up. Not good for Guy’s recuperation though!
Sestri Levante is lovely, one side (the Bay of Fables) is a big Italian seaside resort and on the other side (the Bay of Silence), a lovely picturesque curve of sand with fishing boats and a ‘merman’ sculpture in the sea. All backed with colourful painted houses. Somewhere between the two is a beautiful old town.
A lot of the house fronts in this region have faux brickwork and window details. It looks so real, even close up; but it’s all just shadows and highlights with paint! Could have spent much longer exploring but needed to get back to get the other load of washing on.

As the top of the campsite was empty, apart from us, Guy strung some lines up between the trees and we got everything hung up to dry. This lasted about an hour until the the owner came up with new people and asked us to remove them!😬 Not sure how it’s all going to get dry now on the little airer – two and a half weeks worth including bedding!
After resting all afternoon, Senor Bramley decided a little walk would be good for him. Of course, I was ready in seconds…thought we were going for an Aperol 🍹Should have known. Just a little hike up the rock at the back of the campsite. I’m glad we did though, as the view at sunset was brilliant.
