Well, that was a very noisy night. Out of the blue, this wind appeared, apparently it’s called the Bura and the Croatians know all about it. It can get up to hurricane force – even 189mph!!! It’s ok though because the houses here are made of concrete! Our motorhome, however, is defo not concrete and we thought the wind was going to rip off the air hatches. Problem was, it was really hot too so we needed them open. Not a lot of sleep was had and consequently we didn’t wake up till 9:15 😬🐓All was completely calm this morning – like we imagined it all. We set off for a campsite on the island of Pag which is reached via a bridge. I thought it was a twenty minute drive but it turned into more like three hours. Along the way, we saw a lot of derelict, abandoned houses. After reading up a bit , it seems that many people both Serbs and Croats were evicted at different points during the war – strange to think it’s not that long ago. We followed the coastal road nearly all the way down to Zadar and then joined Pag via a little stretch of motorway. It looked like a lunar landscape (or a pumice stone as the Rough Guide says )- I’m surprised anything is here! The island has more sheep 🐑 than people but we didn’t see any of either. We stopped to buy some Pag cheese which was really nice but had to make do with a small sliver as it was really expensive. We are now on the biggest campsite we’ve ever seen – the pitch numbers go up into the 3000’s. It’s cheap at the moment with the Acsi card discount, but just needed to get some washing done really. At about £6 a load, we’ve just negated any saving made on the site fees! It is really nice and clean though and must be rammed in the summer ..there’s about six different restaurants, many shower blocks…even a dog shower – watch out Rufus!!😂
