Thought we were on for a twenty minute drive out to the coast this morning – hadn’t realised there were mountains between us and it! After a long winding road through the hills following a log laden tractor, we stopped at Gospic to do a Lidl shop. Prices are about the same as everywhere else really. Thought it might be a nice little town to wander round with Rufus but nothing much there. A local lady said she couldn’t believe we’d come from England and stopped in Gospic. It has one claim to fame apparently, in that Nikola Tesla lived there (the chap that invented electricity sort of). Rufus got tired, so Guy went to fetch the motorhome while I waited with him on a quiet Main Street. Just as Guy left, a coach pulled up and about thirty blokes piled out and headed for the bar. A few of them said hello to Rufus but the last (most drunk) one stopped to talk. He said they were policemen …and they were wearing some kind of police t shirts, but he was absolutely sloshed. Fortunately, Guy came round the corner just as he was shouting his mate to come talk to ‘voman and dog’! 😅 We drove over the brow of the last hill to be met with the stunning sight of the sea and the island of Pag.
Parked on a headland for lunch then walked into the town. Some motorhomes were parked on the quay and looked like they were there for the night so we’ve joined them. Had the table and chairs out and watched a really beautiful sunset.
