The Chapelle just visible on top of the rock

Jack Frost had paid us a visit this morning 0 degrees – brrr. The sun was shining though and it soon warmed up as we drove downhill through the mountains.

Got to the little town of Castellane quite early so we spent an hour sorting out the insurance for the motorhome as it’s due for renewal. One quote was over £1000 – what a joke!

After fortifying ourselves with bacon bits, egg and fried potatoes, (this is not our usual diet 😂) we set off to walk up to the little chapel that stands high up on the rock above where we are parked.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame du Roc took about half an hour to reach which really surprised us as it looked like a real climb. It was rocky path all the way but quite wide and, for once, not hair raising! The view of the town with the Verdon river leading to the gorge was quite spectacular.

Back down in the town we had a walk around the very narrow streets – apart from the school, it was very quiet.

Back at the van, we got the chairs out and sat in the warm sunshine 🌞- who’d have thought frost in the morning, sunbathe in the afternoon?
