Had a little walk around the town this morning – lovely place; hardly anyone around apart from about twenty old people playing boule – not a mask in sight. Very different to Italy.

We wanted to head south towards the Gorges du Verdon and there were three possible routes. I sort of talked Guy into doing the easiest as they were all mountain passes, so we headed for the Col de la Bonette. It said it was open at the start, then about ten miles up the route was closed! Had to turn around and come back down. 🙄
The next easiest route also had a road closed sign but well in advance this time. That left us with no option but to do the Col d’Allos. Described in our ‘Rough Guide’ as a terrifying mountain pass, I can confirm that yes, it is actually terrifying!!! Especially, in a motorhome. That thing about scaring yourself once a day is grossly overrated.
Mr Bramley said I was letting the side down by not taking enough photos, looking for oncoming cars etc. Unfortunately, I was unable to speak or move for the first fifteen minutes. The scenery was spectacular though, from what I saw from between my fingers. Near the top, there were a few pine trees scattered around, all with a dusting of frost which sparkled in the sunshine.
The road down the other side was thankfully, a lot easier but went on forever. We stopped at a ski resort for lunch and to phone Jordan who is 24 today (Happy Birthday 🎂 again!) and has a massive hangover 🤣🤣🤣
Mid afternoon we ended up in the lovely village of Colmars-les-Alpes. A fort at either end and tiny village in the middle with again, hardly anyone around. After checking out all the ‘attractions’ we took the little path out of town and up to the waterfall which was well worth the visit.

More daring drives tomorrow no doubt, but for now it’s a triple wine night! 🍷
