Rude awakening early this morning when it seemed like a helicopter took off from our roof – both nearly fell out of bed! Then Bob the Builder and his mates appeared from nowhere to start moving some stones around. Maybe the helicopter was delivering the stones – either way, thought we’d better get up.
Rain was threatening again with lots of menacing clouds cutting the mountains in half, but the sun came out as we reached Cortina.
We’ve been through here loads of times before, but this time, for some reason we couldn’t get out! The roads were super busy with holiday traffic and roadworks and we must’ve circled the whole town three times. In the end we worked out there was a one way system that Google maps hadn’t picked up on.

Think we’ve done about four mountain passes, mostly in the rain but fairly certain we saw snow at one point. Good scenery, including an unbelievably turquoise lake.
Felt like we were still swaying from side to side though, by the time we landed in the little town of Tolmezzo. Fortunately, there was a Lidl so we’ve stocked up on all the good stuff, then drove up hill to a quiet spot up above.

Been out for a quick walk when the rain stopped but not a lot to see around this bit.
