Had to be up early this morning to leave the campsite. Both got fuzzy heads 😬

Drove along the coast towards Imperia but couldn’t find parking. We decided to scrap the idea of visiting San Remo as it’s a bit close to Nice. Shame, but we’ll do it another time.

Turned inland instead and up towards the town of Cuneo. An Italian couple had told us it was bellissimo so thought we’d check it out.

On the way up, the road was running alongside a river for most of the way; the devastation from the recent storms was very much in evidence. Whole trees uprooted everywhere, heaps of silt and rocks where the water had blasted its way downhill. It must have been terrifying for the people who live in this area.

We got to Cuneo mid afternoon and used the free glass lift to get up to the town which turned out to be more of a city. One big wide Main street and a huge square in the middle. It is surrounded by mountains and must look pretty when there’s snow around.

The one thing it seems to be famous for is it’s rum truffles – we tried one each. I reckon if you had two, you wouldn’t be able to drive legally! 😂

Back down in the car park now and there’s a definite chill in the air …autumn is here.
