A lot of zig-zagging uphill today! Filled up with diesel, gas and food whilst still in Italy as it’s so much cheaper than France these days.
Had a lunch stop in the lovely mountain village of Vinadio. There was an old fort to wander around and to say it was a Saturday, not a soul about. A friendly dog became our tour guide around the place – even showed us the best spots to have a wee! When he later appeared at the motorhome door, I think Guy was contemplating a pet smuggle.
There was much sheep and cow movement on the way up to the top. I think we got stuck three times behind first cows then sheep ..it’s always massively entertaining.
When we reached the Colle della Maddalena (not to be confused with the Col de la Madeleine as Guy did!) it was a bit of an anti climax – mainly scrubland. We’d had beautiful autumn scenery all the way up so decided to carry on down the other side into France.
Parked above the town of Barcelonnette – in fact we’re at the Belvedere de Barcelonnette. Amazing views all round.
