We’ve driven south to the bottom of the island (Senja) to a campsite opposite the entrance to the National Park. The price isn’t too bad at £20 as the washing machine and drier are free. We’d hoped to hang the clothes out to dry, but there are no trees to tie the line to.

It was real sunbathing weather for a few hours in the afternoon, but lots of flies everywhere. By 4:30ish it had clouded over, still warm, but a few spots of rain. The choice was: drink wine (there’s a finite amount – when it’s gone, it’s gone – Guy) or go for a long walk.
We went for a walk. The track into the National Park had all been gravelled at the start, a bit like a half done road. After a while it turned into planks across some swampy bog land. The trees were amazing – half of them looked like they’d been petrified and were all twisted into strange shapes. Presume this is something to do with the cold dark winters here.
The flies nearly got the better of us, especially when we met a couple of girls who said it was horrendous further on ..like walking through a jungle! They also said it was another couple of hours to the lake and we wouldn’t be back till 10pm ish. After carrying on for another half an hour, we turned around – need dinner before bedtime! Thankfully , the Jungle Formula seems to have protected us from bites, so all’s well that ends with a tin of Cassoulet 😂🍷🍷🍷
