Late get up due to late night. 😴The midnight sun was eerie – every man and his dog came up to the lighthouse to watch it. It doesn’t go out of sight at all if you are high enough up, just does a bit of a bounce off the horizon. It was odd walking back in the daylight; people still sat outside, children playing ….half an hour after midnight.
Guy gave the outside of the van a bit of a sneaky clean using the water tap whilst I did the inside. We decided it was a bit fishy smelling in the harbour “when de bowat comes in”!
Followed one of the National Tourist Routes along the coast – spectacular scenery all day really. First stop was Ersfjord beach – people were sunbathing and in the sea. When we stepped on to the white sand it was surprisingly warm especially when the blinding sun came out. The sea however …whaaaa…so cold 🥶. Really strange to be sat on a beach surrounded by green mountains with snow on the top. Mr Bramley managed a snore or two though!
Drove on then to Tungeneset where there’s a boardwalk made of Siberian Larch (so the one time track cyclist tells me) which leads on to huge rocks.
Next, on to Bergsfjorden, where there’s quite an amazing overhanging viewpoint at the bottom of the Fjord. The middle bit had a sort of wave like structure to it.2C6582CE-F1B7-4009-8FD2-487D0C00A8AE
Through more scary rock tunnels to Hamn, where the temperature changed back to Arctic. We were going to stay here but it seemed like the parking belonged to a hotel complex, so off we went again! Not too far to the next one thankfully…just another couple of tunnels.😂1AECA4D9-2902-4AF2-BB10-8CD890FD1B78
