A lot of rain in the night and the traffic noise started around 6am which is just a bit early for me! 😂
Écija, according to the Rough Guide, is known as the frying pan of Andalucia as it’s so very hot in the summer. Today, it was more like the refrigerator of Andalucia, there was such a cold wind blowing.
We walked into the town to discover its many decorated church towers and spires. Lovely as they were, it’s not quite the same without warm sunshine.

The Palacio de Peñaflor did stand out though, as it runs the whole length of the street and its paintwork seemed really unusual for Spain – more like something from Austria.

Moved south around lunchtime to Osuna, about 30 minutes away. Tried to get some bits from Mercadona supermarket but parking was difficult – a lot of them tend to have undercover or underground parking and we don’t fit in! Then Lidl had a full on power cut, so nothing from there.
Waited for a hailstorm to finish before we ventured out this afternoon. Downhill all the way into the town (not so thrilled about walking back)! Similar kind of place to Écija, but more grand houses and palaces to look at, with only a few towers.

On the way back uphill, we detoured slightly to have a look at the Necropolis – or ancient burial site in some caves. Must’ve been some little people in Osuna!

We are parked in a weird place called El Coto las Canteras – think it’s some kind of ancient quarry with an auditorium inside it where events are held. Outside, there seems to be dogs everywhere (just as you said Jo Gannon 😂)although they’ve got collars on so hopefully all owned and looked after.

Guy has been batch cooking bolognese as we can’t seem to restock the freezer – my part in this will be the giant pot mountain that’s building up on the side! 🤣
A repetitive screech from outside and the chef instantly turned back into photographer and ran outside with his zoom lens. A Little Owl sat on a branch and had his portrait done in profile!
