Back at the Caminito del Rey today and we fancy doing it again as it’s such a spectacular gorge walk. The trouble is, there are never any tickets available online, so our only hope is to turn up at the ticket desk early in the morning as they usually have a few available first thing.
Along the way here, we stopped at a viewpoint where the three reservoirs meet. An amazing view but we can see that there is much less water around than a few years ago.
There is never anywhere to park near the north entrance to the gorge. It was so busy that we carried on all the way to the opposite end. Found parking under some trees ..well, it was supposed to be a carpark, but the far end was full of ‘new age travellers’ who had spread out everywhere, complete with campfire!
We decided to walk up as far as we could, hoping to get a few photos. All the time, I was expecting someone to stop us and say “You’re going the wrong way and where’s your hard hat?” but nobody batted an eyelid! if it wasn’t for the cameras everywhere, I think we could’ve done it back to front 😂
Later in the day, we drove back up go the north entrance and amazingly, once all the cars had gone home, we managed to park right opposite the entrance tunnel where the walk starts! What a result – I reckon thats another 5 minutes in bed in the morning!
