Not a great start to the day…getting up in the dark for starters. Who even does that?😂
Down at the ticket office for 8am – a 2km walk. We’re about fourth in the queue, until a big group arrived and pushed straight to the front

🙄 Rumour is, there are about 50 ‘on the day’ tickets each day, so it still looks ok.
The man in charge arrives and divides us into tickets/no tickets. Just around opening time (9am) the same man shouts “it’s best if you have cash as sometimes the card machine is slow or doesn’t work – if you’re paying by card wait at the back of the queue.”
I think not!
As we approach the front, he comes to tell us the card machine is definitely not working. We don’t have enough cash 🤯
He says he’ll guarantee our entry but we have to walk 2km back to the road, to the kiosk to get cash, and then back again.
On the way, we debate if it’s worth it. It seems so crowded with coach parties and last time we did it, it was lovely and quiet.
Got the cash out anyway and walked back.

Amazingly, most of the coach parties had gone through and we were able to walk most of it on our own.
It is the most amazing place, the walk through the gorge on the wooden boardwalks is nothing short of spectacular. 105 metres high in places, but feels completely safe. In some areas you can see the old path and bridges which weren’t safe at all and I wouldn’t have gone up there for a million quid! Coming out of the gorge into the sunshine and a brilliant suspension bridge at the end is the best bit.

Shuttle bus back home for lunch. Lazed around for a bit, then got bored, so we drove to the town of Álora where Guy had to negotiate very steep, narrow streets to get to the motorhome parking. The town and the parking seem to be full of nutters and druggies. Should have stayed where we were! 😬🙄
