Thought I could hear the sea last night but it was the car wash at the other end of the parking. The industrious Croats were busy jet washing right up until midnight.

As we would be passing by Ston today, it seemed like a good idea to test our fitness by walking the walls again – both still had aching legs from yesterday’s city walks, so probably more like a silly idea.

These stunning fourteenth century defensive walls always seem to draw us in if we’re in the area. The steps go up, then back down again (for early kop out) then, up once more but even higher this time. Flat-ish along the top, then you finally come down into Mali Ston and walk back along the road. There’s hand rail all the way, but boy, is it steep! I needed resuscitation at the top and Guy’s legs went wobbly half way up, which doesn’t bode well for when he next graces Mapperley Cycling Club with his presence 🤣

Normally you can see the squares of the glittering salt pans below, but they were flooded today, nonetheless the views are just stunning if you dare look up from the next big step!

With the dilemma of which campsite to hit and the nearest Lidl being back on the mainland, we gave up on decisions and drove 5km to Prapratno, where we knew from past experience, there’s a closed campsite by a beach with a lovely carpark. Well, I remembered this place and looked back on the blog. Guy however, has no recollection of it whatsoever. Weird – it was only 2018.
Almost sandy beach which is unusual for Croatia. We braved a swim …it was strangely warm if you walked on the sea bed, but the water was cccold. Shade came about 4pm. Dark at 6!

Guy has just been out with the camera to do a star photo as it’s fairly dark. He’s only gone and caught Comet A3 ( Tsuchinshan Atlas) zooming past! (Had to look that up obvs 🙄)

Wow. Fab to see the Comet. What a shot! Sounds like you’re nearly home. We did a similar route back on our last trip. We got back from France yesterday, and need to sort out our van. We only got it a week before we left, and want to try it out here for a couple of days.
