Had to get yet another little ferry today so that we could get on to the route to Geiranger Fjord. The approach was a very zig-zaggy road down the hillside, not helped by many coaches coming the opposite way.
There were several cruise ships in, and the town and surrounding area had more people in it than we’ve seen in six weeks or more! There was a bit of a waterfall at one of the viewpoints and I stood under it for a dare (😂or slightly in front for a cheat more like!).
We had coffee in Geiranger marvelling at the size of the boats and basking in 23 degrees of sunshine. Not for long though, as we came out the other side and started climbing. More hairpin bends with steep gradients and more coaches flying up and down at warp speed. Turning off onto a toll road, we started the even steeper road up to the Dalsnibba viewpoint or Geiranger Skywalk as it’s known. At the very top there’s an overhang with a metal grille walkway that has a 600 metre drop underneath. Spectacular views all round but much chillier up here.
Staying in the carpark for the night. Much debate over the most level place and where we could get phone signal. We could see another motorhome driving up and down like us for the same reason. Settled for one level down in case it gets windy. The mountains are looking amazing now in the sunset.
